Life ReHABITA - the project in the focus of a nationally significant event on increasing the energy efficiency of buildings and tackling the issues of energy poverty

 

The Energy Agency of Plovdiv participated in XVIII National conference “The policies for energy efficiency in the buildings: in search of sustainability, quality and predictability”, which takes place on November 13 and 14, 2024 in the city of Sofia.

The purpose of the conference was to focus the attention of national institutions, municipalities, businesses and the public on current topics in the field of energy efficiency in residential buildings, financing of investments for energy efficiency and energy renovation, energy communities, energy poverty and inclusion of citizens in the energy transition through centers for integrated services (one-stop-shops).

Among the speakers were Adrian Joyce (Secretary General, EuroACE - Energy Efficient Buildings, and the Director of the Renovate Europe Campaign), Ivan Krofak (World Bank), Kalina Stoycheva (Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works), Ivaylo Aleksiev (Executive director, Sustainable Energy Development Agency), Iliana Ivanova (Fund of the funds), Lyuba Nikiforova (Executive Director, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources Fund). Among the attendees were mayors of municipalities and experts from local authorities, representatives of professional organizations and chambers, energy agencies, NGOs, entrepreneurs and citizens.

The Energy Agency of Plovdiv team presented the Life ReHABITA project and the ReHABITA office established in Plovdiv, acting as a "One Stop Shop" for renovating homes of households in energy poverty.

More than 100 participants attended the conference. The format was hybrid incl. onsite and on-line, enabling dynamic, discussion-interactive participation, saturated with multiple results from the implemented projects of the participating organisations.

Within the framework of the conference, the EAP organized a discussion with the representatives of NGOs. The results of the energy poverty assessment for the municipality of Plovdiv were presented. The income of vulnerable households and their costs to cover their energy bills, energy consumption and housing conditions of vulnerable citizens, health aspects and satisfaction were discussed.

The participants were informed about the project status, achievements, roadmap development and further activities.
